How to Winterize Your Sprinkler System

    Inside: Follow these instructions 1 through 5.

  1. Turn off the sprinkler main going to the outside (A) by adjusting lever handle to closed position.(You may have a shutoff and drain valve in one A1).
  2. Place a bucket under the drain valve (B) and turn to open position.

    Outside:
  3. Find the silver caps on top of the ground near the vaccum breaker (E). Open caps (you may need a screw driver) and slide the sprinkler key (G) over the cross handle drains and turn counter clockwise to open.

  4. Turn valves (D&C) to a 45 degree position.

  5. Use a screw driver to turn small petcock screws (F) to a 45 Degree Angle.

  6. Confused ? Throw a blanket over the backflow contraption and call us in the morning!

How to Turn On Your Sprinkler System in the Spring

      Outside:

  1. Use a screw driver to turn the small petcock screws (F) to a 12 o"clock/6'o'clock position which should be opposite of how they were placed when the system was winterized.
  2. Turn valves (D & C) parallel to each pipe.
  3. Find the silver/yellow caps on top of the ground near the vacuum breakers (E).  Close the caps (you may need a screwdriver) and slide the sprinkler key (G) over the cross handle drains and turn clockwise to close.

         Inside:

  1. Turn on the sprinkler main going to the outside (A) by adjusting lever handle to open position.(You may have a shutoff and drain valve in one A1)  Make sure those are shut off prior to turning water on.
  2. Remove the bucket under the drain valve (B) and turn the drain valve to the close position.

    Confused ? Throw a blanket over the backflow contraption and call us in the morning!
